The ongoing outbreaks of H5N1 Avian Influenza in Indonesia have had a significant impact. Since August 2003, more than 10 million livestock have been affected and the H5N1 virus has crossed the species barrier resulting in at least 135 confirmed human cases with 110 deaths. Moreover, the potential exists for the H5N1 Avian Influenza virus to trigger a human pandemic.

Research on clinical disease, virology and epidemiology of H5N1 in Indonesia is needed to understand the ecology and variability in transmission to human. To foster essential research, WHO requests for proposal that will then be evaluated through a review process. The awards will then be made to compentent researchers and institutions focused on research of local scientists and public health professionals. Areas for research include:
Studies of disease ecology, transmission, and epidemiology.

The octopus is a mollusk animal (soft-bodied animals) dri cephalopoda class (animal legs located in the head), Octopoda order with coral reefs in the Ocean as the main habitat. Octopus consists of 289 species that account for one-third of the total species of cephalopoda class.

The octopus has 8 arms (not tentacles) with a vacuum in the form of concave spheres on the arm used to move on the ocean floor and catch the prey. An octopus, which is a muscular hydrostatic structure that is composed entirely of layers of boneless muscle or outer skeletal bone. But there are some octopus that only consists of muscle and boneless skeletal inside. The octopus does not have a shell as a protector on the outside as does nautilus and has no inner shell or bone like cuttlefish and squid. The beak is the hardest part of the body of the octopus used as the jaw to kill the prey and bite it into small parts.

The octopus is pale or white, but the color of the skin can be changed according to the color and pattern of the surrounding environment with the intention of camouflaging. The ability to change color is used octopus to communicate or warn other octopus. Some octopus species can break their own limbs (muscle) like lizards and some lizard species that decide the tail while running away. The crawling octopus arm also serves as a diversion for the prospective predator and is useful at the time of mating. Several species of octopus have a fourth defense system in the form of imitating the form of dangerous marine animals such as lepu and eels thanks to a flexible body combined with the ability to change color

The male octopus reproduces by placing the spermatofora pouch into the female octopus cavity using a special arm called hectocotylus. The third right arm usually becomes hectocotylus in some species, the female octopus is biased to keep the sperm alive until the egg matures. Once fertilized, the female octopus can lay eggs up to about 200.00 eggs. The number of octopus eggs may vary depending on each individual, familia, genus or species.

the octopus has good eyesight. Octopus pupil are shaped like a pit of a piggy bank so it is feared to suffer from an astigmatic deformity, but it does not seem to be a problem for hunting octopuses with insufficient illumination. The octopus eye "can" differentiate the polarization of light but seems color-blind. The octopus arm suction tool is equipped with a chemoreceptor so that the octopus can feel the object being touched.
